Résumé:
Born in Verona and raised in South Tyrol, Benedetta Großrubatscher first visited the village of Ginostra – located on the island of Stromboli and accessible only by boat or by taking a long hike over the volcano – in 1975. Since then, she has returned many times to this special place that is at once ancient and modern. There are no cars there, and until 2004 there was no electricity or running water. Her naturalistic photographic style captures the colourful dynamism and moments of intimate minimalism found at this “island within an island.”

Résumé:
From the famed Atlantis to the remote Rupes Nigra, islands have long held our fascination: they are locales isolated from ordinary life, lurking in unexplored corners of the globe and thus full of undisclosed mysteries. At times, however, our fascination with islands has bled into reality, as real maps bear the coordinates of fictional lands and travelogues tell tall tales of their inhabitants, their natural wonders, or their treasures. In ''Phantom islands,'' Dirk Liesemer tells the stories of thirty of these fantastical islands. Beginning with their supposed discovery, he recreates their fabled landscapes, the voyages that attempted to verify their existence, and, ultimately, the moment when their existence was finally disproven. Spanning oceans and centuries, these curious tales are a chronicle of human lust for discovery and wealth.

Résumé:
Since its inception in the early 1970s, MoMA PS1 in Long Island City, Queens, has been a crucible for radical experimentation. Committed to New York City as well as to maintaining an international scope, PS1 has always put the artist at the center, engaging practitioners at work in every discipline from performance, music, dance, poetry and new media to painting, sculpture, photography and architecture. This publication captures the vibrancy of a long and venerable tradition that began with the legendary series of performances and events organized by founder Alanna Heiss under the Brooklyn Bridge in 1971.
