Description:
Oud's international reputation was cemented due in part to his work on the Weissenhofsiedlung, in Stuttgart, as well as to the praise of contemporary American art historian, Henry-Russell Hitchcock. Oud was commissioned in 1931 to design a private home for the mother of Oud's American friend, Philip Johnson, although the project was never realized due to the client's financial struggles in the economic Depression. Oud submitted drawings and a model of the design for Mrs H.H. Johnson's home to the Museum of Modern Art's 1932 "Modern Architecture – International Exhibition." Although Oud was generally praised for his exhibition entries, especially photographs of Hoek van Holland, he received little positive attention with his model submission of the House of Mrs H.H. Johnson. Oud began design for the house late in 1931 and designed a large villa with an open, spacious living room and dining room, strategic garden views, and a detached sunroom with a retractable roof (Taverne et al. 2001, 320). Project series includes photographs of the model of House for Mrs H.H. Johnson, as well as drawings of plans for the house.

Description:
The Grebbeberg National Army Memorial was designed as a commemoration to the soldiers who lost their lives in the battle at Grebbeberg in 1940 during the Second World War. During the German occupation, the mayor of Rhenen Bosch van Rosenthal, organized a secret collection of bronze cents and used part of this collection to fund the memorial. The Grebbeberg National Army Memorial Foundation commissioned Oud for its design in 1947. The bronze coins were also melted down to create the bell for the monument that was completed by Dutch foundries in 1953. The war memorial project resulted in modification of the Grebbeberg cemetery and the design of a new monument. Oud designed a monument with a central cross flanked by two stone lions on an inscribed pedestal. At the other end of the memorial, segmented walls surrounded a raised amphitheatre for speeches and commemorations. The centre held the tower and the bronze bell. Modification of the cemetery began in 1949. Construction for the memorial started in 1952 and its official dedication was held in May 1953 (Taverne et al. 2001, 453-456). Project series includes plans and sections for the bell tower and monument.

Description:
This project series documents a proposal for Palmerston Place in Scarborough, Ontario from 1989-1992. The office identified the project number as 8909. This project, commissioned by Frum Development Group and headed by Bruce Kuwabara, proposed a mixed-use development that would span several blocks and integrate local transit stations. Located at the corner of Markham Road and Sheppard Avenue, the development would include residential areas, retail spaces, office buildings, a bus station and a subway station. The project investigated several schemes, all of which included the creation of a new grid road system, parks, courtyards and extensive landscaping. The development was divided into several phases to be carried out over a five to seven year period. This project was never built. The project is recorded through drawings, a site photograph and textual records dating from 1989-1991. The drawings are mostly originals and include sketches, model drawings, presentation drawings, plans, elevations and sections. A large number of the plans are schemes that investigate the general site concept. The textual records consist of a description of the project concept.

Description:
This project series documents alterations to terminals one and two of the Toronto International Airport in Mississauga, Ontario from 1983-1984. The office identified the project number as 8313. Since the early 1960s, John B. Parkin Associates, and later John C. Parkin's new firm Parkin Architects Planners, had been commissioned by the government Department of Transport Air Services (now Transport Canada) to complete more than a dozen projects at the Toronto International Airport, including terminals one and two. This project consisted of changes made to both of those terminals. Alterations at terminal one included alterations to the medical clinic at the basement level and discussion of mending the ceilings at the departures level. Alterations to terminal two included the expansion of retail concession space and the extension of the transborder airside corridor. The project is recorded through drawings, a photograph of a terminal interior, and textual records dating from 1983-1984. The drawings are arranged within the textual materials. The textual records consist of specifications, conference reports, site reports, contract and tender documents, consultancy records and construction notes.
