Résumé:
Food and drink – ranging from vital intake of nourishment to opulent society dinners. Just as broad is the range of places to eat and drink presented in Issue 2012/3 – from simple snack bar to exclusive Parisian restaurant. Concept Gastronomy is packed with bars, cafés and restaurants with very individual characters and special features. The new canteen of the Spiegel publishing house in Hamburg with its amazing multi-facetted luminous ceiling is one example, while the wooden interior cladding in a sushi bar in Sydney designed for pleasant acoustics is another. Overall architectural and kitchen technology planning of gastronomic facilities is considered in an extensive article in the Typology section. Floor area requirements, spatial planning principles and process lines are explained by means of exemplary floor plans, providing concrete planning aids.

Résumé:
Entropy is the quantitative measure of disorder in a system. During the nineteenth century, chaos, seen through an entropic lens, was linked to irresponsible waste and moral debauchery, but in the second part of the twentieth century the notion has beenreconsidered in an affirmative sense, as a condition linked to growing complexity and new life. This alternate understanding of entropy has come to inform contemporary discourse and the practice of a new architectural generation. Many of the papers in this issue were first presented at the Phyllis Lambert seminar that took place at the École d'architecture, Université de Montréal, in March 2010

Résumé:
Paul Robbrecht and Hilde Daem have been active as architects in the Belgian city of Ghent since 1975. Their work moves between the local traditions of Flemish building and a cosmopolitanism acquired, in the main, as a result of their collaborations with international artists on exhibition and museum spaces. This number of 2G presents eighteen projects by Robbrecht en Daem, fifteen of them built, which extend from public spaces for various Belgian cities (Antwerp, Ghent and Knokke) and urban amenities of major importance like Bruges Concert Hall to small projects inserted in the landscape, like a cabin the woods, a pair of observation towers and a dovecote.
