Publications and Exhibitions
AP032.S4
Description:
This series contains material on publications and exhibitions concerning Goldsmith work and career. Papers and photographs record the creation of the book Myron Goldsmith: Buildings and Concepts, edited by Swiss architect Werner Blaser and published by Rizzoli Publications in 1987. The updating of Goldsmith's theoretical views are apparent in the manuscript drafts and revisions of his two essays for the book - "The Effects of Scale," reworked from his I.I.T. master's thesis, and the newly composed "Structural Architecture." This series also contains documents concerning retrospective exhibitions on Goldsmith originating at Harvard University (1982), and at the Canadian Centre for Architecture (1991). This material includes papers, correspondence, exhibition panels and wall text panels. The inclusion of periodicals and clippings on the architect's work, and the work of his students, supply a good bibliographic background on the architect.

9A Windsor, Worthing
AP144.S2.D32
Description:
File documents an executed project for a garden pavilion and pool in Worthing, West Sussex, England, for the two children of Mr and Mrs T. L. Blau. The design includes "anti-adult" elements such as the pavilion's low ceiling and a steep, open stair leading to an upper deck. The children assisted with the construction and were given notes concerning the pavilion's long-term maintenance. Untreated cedar boards were used for the pavilion's exterior due to the site's close proximity to the sea. In addition to working drawings, the file contains a site plan of existing conditions, design development sketches of alternative layouts for pavilion, pool and deck areas. Material in this file was produced between 1962 and 1975, but predominantly 1962. File contains working drawings, photographic material, and textual records.

Publications about Wood
CD046.S2
Description:
Much of this material is concerned with the contributions of British Columbia's wood industry to architectural production. After 1940, demands for B.C. wood grew rapidly due to requirements for war-time ships and aircraft, followed by the post-war housing boom in Canada. In particular, the series contains publications from the 1950s and 1960s by the Plywood Manufacturers Association of British Columbia. The Association developed and promoted successful prefabricated building systems, such as the "Trend House," beginning in 1952, prefab recreational cabins and roof trusses, and a practical post and beam building system for residences. The documents include special publications as well as a number of issues of the quarterly journal Plywood World from 1961-1962. Material in this series was produced between 1951 and 1964. Series contains a book and publications.
