Description:
File documents an unexecuted proposal for a one-storey farmhouse located in Trucklehill, near Wraxall Park, Wiltshire, England. Interior is organized around a large central living room, and the need for passageways is eliminated. Material from an adjacent barn, slated for demolition, was to be used for the lower structure of the house, and installed by local labour, while the prefabricated aluminum superstructure was to be constructed off site (Cedric Price-Works II). Plans for the installation of a central heating system in an existing residential structure are also part of the file and relate to the project by client and possibly geographical location. However this residence is not part of the site plan. Presentation drawings were published in Price, Cedric. 'Cedric Price-Works II' (London: Architectural Press, 1984), 52. Material in this file was produced between 1961 and 1962. File contains presentation drawings, reference drawings, and textual records.

Auditorium, Claverton Bath
AP144.S2.D41
Description:
File documents an unexecuted project for a domed auditorium at Claverton in Bath, England, for the American Museum in Britain. Adapted from Buckmister Fuller's design for the Radome it was to serve as a multipurpose auditorium and exhibition space. The 250-seat auditorium was enclosed by a double dome construction which could be raised and lowered by hydraulic jacks. Design development sketches and perspective studies show various layouts for seating, and diagrams contain directions for erecting the stage and positioning the dome. A section shows the major components: the dome, both lowered and raised; the location of the hydraulic jacks, screens, and baffles; and the seating layout. Two interior perspectives show the dome both raised and lowered. Material in this file was produced between 1962 and 1964. Some perspective diagrams in the file are attributed to M. Haxworth. File contains design development drawings, photographic materials, and textual records.

Description:
File documents a project for a private residence in Australia which Price designed to provide unlimited functional options by means of a variable open frame structure with insertable module components. Photographs of various views of the existing site were apparently used for reference purposes by Price during the design development process. Conceptual and design development drawings include both original drawings and reprographic copies: elevations show the timber and corrugated metal construction and preliminary construction details; axonometric drawings explore open/closed and roof on/off options; floor plans show circulation patterns in color; and alternate bathroom and service modules are shown primarily in plan. Two photographs of the model (DR2004:0379) were mislabelled by Price's office with the Pertpavs project (AP144.S2.D124). Material in this file was produced between 1981 and 1984. File contains conceptual drawings, design development drawings, a presentation model, photographic materials and textual records.

Description:
Project series documents Poli's design for a Cone table, also called "Mizar" table, which was produced for Superstudio by Crystal Art in 1973. Poli dates this project as being from 1971-1973, however, some drawings appear to be dated 1979. Material in this series features mainly sketches and drawings, many brightly coloured, some done in blue ink, and one large drawing in white on black cardstock. Not all notations appear to be in Poli's hand. One drawing also features an image (which appears to be a cut-out). The series also includes a model or prototype of the table design in glass and ceramic. A sketchbook with drawings related to this project has been catalogued with material from the Lamp for Flos project (see project AP148.S1.1971.PR02) - Poli notes that 48 pages of this red sketchbook feature drawings related to the Cone table project.

The sub-series documents the exhibition "Radicals. Architettura e design 1960-1975", curated by Pettena and presented in the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 1996. This documentary exhibition on the Radical architecture movement in the 1960s and the 1970s, for presented the Radical movement not as "essentially conceptual contribution, as “fantastic” theories and utopian visions of the future" [1] but as "precursors of the most innovative production of the contemporary, international architectural scene." [2] The sub-series contains research material, including photocopies of articles on the Radical movement and research on previous editions of the Venice Biennale. It also contains correspondence for the planning of the exhibition, including with Hans Hollein and the Biennale administration, a draft exhibition proposal, concept development notes by Pettena, proposals for promotional material on the exhibition and press clippings. Description:
Series 2, Witte Arts Center, Green Bay, Wisconsin, 2000 – 2002, documents the development of a project (unrealized) by Office d’A in response to a real estate brief for a floor of artists’ studios supported by a street level gallery in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The design for the Witte Arts Center addresses functional architectural concerns like light and circulation through elements such as suspended skylights and an open-air staircase. For the staircase in particular, corbelled brick patterning around the interior stairs creates a distortion of the building’s façade nicknamed “the smile.” The series consists of sketches, drawings and reprographic copies from the pre-design to design development phases of the project, a model, and photographic materials. Textual records in the series include correspondence, meeting notes and vendor catalogues. Digital material consists of CAD drawings, 3D models and renderings, images of the model and drawings, correspondence and other documents.
