Résumé:
This first book in Dongola’s Architecture Series, a platform to publish multi-layered readings of conversations with Arab architects working across the region's contemporary landscapes. Ammar Khammash’s work in building, painting, sculpture and music, together with his social, geological and botanical research break and intersect with every possible disciplinary mold in favor of an ongoing momentum of production and dissemination of knowledge. His practice is an act of mutual formation, an ongoing collaboration between himself and nature, which is, in his regard, the only real architect. Rather than package the practice, this book aims to reveal associations, untangle connections, and trace wandering threads. In exploring these various processes of formation – material, intellectual, and otherwise – this book works to offer a reading of architecture that draws on experimentation, context sensitivity and cultural introspection as main foundations.

Ambitious in scope and a wonder to examine, Gardens in Time captures two millennia of garden history between its covers. The follow-up to world-renowned photographer Alain Le Toquin's successful The Most Beautiful Gardens in the World, Gardens in Time contains lush and glorious photographs of the nearly 130 gardens that Le Toquin explored across 20 countries--the most comprehensive garden photo documentary ever undertaken by a single photographer. From the Roman gardens at Hadrian's villa to the modern work of landscape gardeners like Fernando Caruncho, the Wirtzes, and Robert Irwin, historical and contemporary gardens are showcased. All are complemented by Jacques Bosser's informative text, which reveals the evolutions, transformations, influences, and trends that characterize these beautiful landscapes, putting into context their aesthetic appeal, both then and now.

Résumé:
Christoph Hesse Architects is based in Berlin and Korbach, a small town in the northwestern part of the German federal state of Hesse. This rural area in the green heart of Germany is the location of most of the projects the firm has realized since its establishment in 2010, though occasionally, they do plant their rural concepts into an urban context. Christoph Hesse Architects and their friends see their designs as open places of culture. On the one hand, they are catalysts for change in thought, intended to change people’s perspectives and stimulate self-efficacy in society. On the other hand, they are actual interventions in globally prevailing structures that can be disrupted and changed locally. Thus, the firm distinguishes between projects acting as perspective changes and as system changers.

The Mexicans Colectivo C733 have found in the ideas of Eladio Dieste a constant source of inspiration: in their a rational approach to the use of materials, their respect for human effort, and their way of understading the project as a perfectly orchestrated symphony. This philosophy has enabled them to build more than fifty projects across Mexico in just five years, in the context of an ambitious government strategy to improve infrastructures and public spaces in vulnerable contexts. Thanks to a millimetric coordinatoin and a shared view of social innovation and sustainability, C733 has managed to turn each intervention into an example of architecture committed to the environment and the community. This issue features a selection of fifteen projects that reflect the diversity, scale, and impact of their work.

Résumé:
The Cedric Price fonds at the CCA is an inexhaustible source of provocations about what architecture is and the questions it should ask. Sofia Nannini looks here at a small but representative collection of files within this vast archive: a proposal for a light and reconfigurable livestock pen to clean and weigh cattle and sheep, which Price suggests can also become a bucolic family picnic area when not used for the animals, simply by removing the gates that control them. And it is precisely this question of control of the non-human that Nannini chooses to focus on. In the context of Price's interest in impermanence and the creative potential of human interaction and individual free will, Nannini exposes architecture's responsibility in perpetuating the assumed dominion of our species over others.

Résumé:
"Donald Judd Writings" presents a new collection of Judd’s writings spanning from 1958 to 1993. This publication includes Judd’s most well-known essays, such as "Specific Objects" and "Complaints I and II," as well as little-known essays previously published in limited editions. Moreover, to provide readers with the context and breadth of his life’s work and thinking, this new collection includes three unpublished college essays and hundreds of never-before-seen notes, an important and unknown part of Judd’s writing practice. Judd’s earliest published writing defined the terms of art criticism in the 1960s and continues to serve as a primary source of his early thinking. Judd’s subsequent writings are no less significant, though they appeared in very small editions and are almost entirely unavailable at present.

Résumé:
This catalogue documents an exhibition of large-scale paintings by Helen Frankenthaler made between 1960 and 1992, opening in spring 2026 at Gagosian’s West 21st Street gallery. Throughout her career, Frankenthaler pushed beyond the boundaries of easel painting to create extraordinary, monumental works, some of which occupied the entire expanse of her studio floor. This exhibition explores the artist’s use of scale across four decades of painting. The title is derived from a 1975 review by poet and critic Barbara Guest, where she remarks on Frankenthaler’s “astonishing combination of freedom with restraint, extravagance with discipline, suggestion and definition,” concluding, “the moment becomes the distance.” The book includes a new essay by art historian Ara H. Merjian that discusses the works in the show in the context of Frankenthaler’s Surrealist and Abstract Expressionist influences.

Résumé:
City planning is a concept which usually covers the wide range of events, processes and developments taking place in our cities, but individual plans and designs cannot do justice to the complex realities of the city. In "Induction Cities" the author aims to take the reader beyond our traditional understanding of city design to redefine our perception of design in this context. With the assistance of computers, a dynamic mechanism will be created which generates a result corresponding to the specific conditions and requirements stipulated. By this form of "meta-design" a greater degree of freedom is obtained than the conventional design methods provide. In this publication, this new theory and process is analysed, looking at the first computer-generated architecture in the world, the underground station "lidabashi" in Tokyo.

Résumé:
Focusing on 35 distinct areas of the city, this book presents the new face of the German capital including the former West, the new center, and the government district with stunning photographs that look at the startling contrasts between old and new. Both local and international architects have carried out rebuilding projects, most famously Renzo Piano ’s Daimler Chrysler project, Michael Wilford ’s British Embassy in Berlin, Norman Foster ’s Reichstagconversion, Helmut Jahn ’s piece for Sony, Daniel Libeskind ’s Jewish Museum Berlin. Architectural historian Christiane Kruse examines Berlin ’s vibrant, checkered past, offering surprising insights into its rebirth as a thriving, thoroughly modern metropolis and using texts that place current developments in a historical context. Rare, archive photographs from the GDR and before the war show the transformation of the city.

Résumé:
André Kertész (1894–1985) was one of the most inventive, influential, and prolific photographers in the medium's history. His combination of Modernist vision and poetic wit defined a vocabulary that generations of photographers have continued to use. Kertész's iconic images of 1920s Paris, such as "Chez Mondrian" and "Satiric dancer" and his later images from New York–"Melancholic tulip," "Washington Square"–have seeped into contemporary culture, and yet Kertész maintained that the real roots of his work were in Hungary. This book, the first completely dedicated to Kertész's early Hungarian prints, offers a unique window on the origins of genius. Ninety images, selected from more than 1,000 contact prints in the artist's estate, are meticulously reproduced to actual size, revealing the explosive cultural context of early twentieth-century Hungary.
