Résumé:
Sketches of Frank Gehry by Sydney Pollock chronicles the friendship between director Sydney Pollock and the famed architect every bit as much as it does Gehry and his work, and it makes for a delightful window into the world of creativity and genius. Gehry has made a big imprint on architecture at the turn of the 21st century; his molten-looking visions have graced buildings small (actor Dennis Hopper's industrial-looking home in Venice, Calif.) to enormous (the sprawling Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain). He's the genius behind Los Angeles's sweeping Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Featured here are four of Dudler’s high-rises, which show his brilliant approach to applying modernist ideas in the context of big-city architecture. In a Frankfurt neighborhood near downtown and the banking district, Dudler refurbished two high-rises located next to each other, fusing the structures into an urban ensemble which epitomizes unity and the quiet elegance of its surroundings. This publication also looks at Dudler’s two high-rise projects in Zurich: the esteemed Sunrise Tower (the former IBM building) and the Hagenholzstrasse ensemble.

Résumé:
Driving across most of the country's 50 states in an ordinary rental car, Friedlander applied the simple conceit of deploying the sideview mirror, rearview mirror, the windshield and the side windows as a picture frame within which to record the country's eccentricities and obsessions at the turn of the century. This method allows for fascinating effects in foreshortening, and juxtapositions in which steering wheels, dashboards and leatherette bump up against roadside bars, motels, churches, monuments, suspension bridges, landscapes and often Friedlander's own image, via sideview mirror shots. Presented in the square crop format that has dominated his look in recent series, and taken over the past decade, the nearly 200 images in America by Car are easily among Friedlander's finest, while also revisiting themes from older bodies of work.

Résumé:
In recent years there has been increased debate on the incorporation of pedagogy into curatorial practice — on what has been termed "the educational turn" ("turn" in the sense of a paradigmatic reorientation, within the arts). In this new volume, artists, curators, critics and academics respond to this widely recognized turn in contemporary art. Consisting primarily of newly commissioned texts, from interviews and position statements to performative text and dialogue, this book also includes a number of previously published writings that have proved primary in the debate so far. Contributors include David Aguirre, Dave Beech, Cornford & Cross, Charles Esche, Liam Gillick, Tom Holert and Emily Pethick.

Résumé:
Rachel Harrison's assemblages of found and constructed objects carry a provisional quality, a wry sense of humor and an all-embracing intelligence. Playing with materials ranging from plinth, pedestal and corrugated cardboard to plastic ketchup bottles, insulated travel mugs and Barbie's wheelchair-bound friend, Harrison creates colorful, canny, thought-provoking constructions that are worthy peers of Rauschenberg's Combines. This volume, the most comprehensive monograph of Harrison's sculpture, video and painting to date, provides documentation of the past 15 years of her work and includes essays by Tom Eccles, David Joselit, Iwona Blazwick and Jack Bankowsky, plus contributions from Paul Chan, John Kelsey, Allan McCollum, Lucy Raven, Amy Sillman and Steven Stern.
