Résumé:
Narrative Spaces is about exhibition design. It places the profession in a broad theoretical and cultural-historical context and defines a conceptual framework that brings out the dynamics of the field. Exhibitions are narrative environments in which the designer has to translate often complex and scientific objectives into an engaging spatial narrative that can comprise a mix of wide-ranging media and communicational strategies. This publication defines the theatrical and scenographic principles of exhibitions as narrative space and holds out conceptual tools that can inspire a new approach to exhibition design.

Dedicated to the work of Wespi de Meuron Romeo, a Swiss/Italian office based in Ticino, the southernmost canton of Switzerland. Markus Wespi and Jérôme de Meuron draw as much inspiration from the blend of cultures which surrounds them as from their own architectural philosophy, one which seeks the utmost harmony between forms of habitat and nature. The houses the office has conceived and realized are natural elements of the landscapes in which they are situated. Distinctive in the use of materials, especially bare concrete and natural stone, their particular qualities are presented here in an array of large photographs, renderings and technical drawings.

Quatre auteurs. Quatre saisons.

Presented here is an overview of the awarded titles, plus a special focus on the winner of the Jan Tschichold Award, which honours excellence in the field of book design and was this year for the first time given to a printer, Erich Keiser of the Druckerei Odermatt.
