There are many books about the work of Gordon Matta-Clark, dissecting him much like he dissected New York, Genoa, and Paris buildings. However, this research arises from a need, that of reaffirming the centrality of Genoa and Paris in his work, with two iconic pieces, A W-Hole House and Conical Intersect, realized in 1973 and 1975. Résumé:
There are many books about the work of Gordon Matta-Clark, dissecting him much like he dissected New York, Genoa, and Paris buildings. However, this research arises from a need, that of reaffirming the centrality of Genoa and Paris in his work, with two iconic pieces, A W-Hole House and Conical Intersect, realized in 1973 and 1975. In this two case studies he synthesized his idea of art and society. This is achieved through a layered investigation of documents, letters, photographs, drawings, and direct testimonies from central figures in GMC’s life: his assistant and friend Gerry H. Hovagimyan, his wife Jane Crawford, photographer Carol Goodden, curator Jean-Hubert Martin, photographer Marc Petitjean, and Genoese gallerist Paolo Minetti. The direct testimonies collected in the form of horal history, from 2013 until today, enable a cross-sectional reading of events and stories, between New York, Genoa, and Paris. In this stories emerges GMC’s empathy towards places and people. The two projects in Genoa and Paris share several analogies.

Résumé:
Unknown Fields is a nomadic design studio that ventures out on expeditions into the shadows cast by the contemporary city, to uncover the industrial ecologies and precarious wilderness its technology and culture set in motion. "Tales from the dark side of the city" is a book series that forms an atlas to the territories and stories of a city that stretches across the entire planet, a city that sits between documentary and fiction, a city of dislocated sites, of drone footage and hidden-camera investigations, of interviews and speculative narratives, of toxic objects and distributed matter from distant grounds. They are a collection of tales from the constellation of elsewheres that are conjured into being by the city’s wants and needs, fears and dreams. The series includes stories developed from expeditions through Bolivia and the Atacama Desert, the Western Australian Outback, the South China Sea and Inner Mongolia, the gemfields of Madagascar, Far North Alaska and the black sites of the United States.

Résumé:
The sites and stories of this publication shift our perception of what defines New York, placing the passion, determination, defeats, and victories of its people at the core. Delving into the histories of New York's five boroughs, you will encounter enslaved Africans in revolt, women marching for equality, workers on strike, musicians and performers claiming streets for their art, and neighbors organizing against landfills and industrial toxins and in support of affordable housing and public schools. The streetscapes that emerge from these groups' struggles bear the traces, and this book shows you where to look to find them. This book expands the scope and scale of traditional guidebooks, providing an equitable exploration of the diverse communities throughout the city. Through the stories of over 150 sites across the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island as well as thematic tours and contemporary and archival photographs, a people’s New York emerges, one in which collective struggles for justice and freedom have shaped the very landscape of the city.

Résumé:
With the invention of telecommunications technologies in the late nineteenth century, the radio-electric spectrum became a tool for rethinking the world in which we live. The emission of radio waves did away with physical distances, crossing borders and cultures and acting as a powerful catalyst for trade. Moreover, the radio spectrum is the invisible infrastructure on which our information and communication technologies have been built. The history of its scientific discovery and how it was gradually colonized by the media, the military complex, and activists and hackers is one of the most fascinating stories of the twentieth century. The future uses of the radio-electric spectrum in the twenty-first century and its new potential are being decided now, with the end of analogue TV broadcasting worldwide marking the most important transformation of uses in the radio-electric space in decades. This catalog sets out to examine these issues and shed a little light on intriguing stories about radio-electric spectrum.
