Résumé:
In "Reinventing heritage," Park Associati—a Milan-based interdisciplinary collective of architects, designers, and researchers—explores the transformative potential of adaptive reuse in architecture as a key strategy to address environmental, social, and economic challenges. Rather than demolishing and rebuilding, adaptive reuse champions the repurposing of existing structures to extend their lifecycle, reduce waste, and foster sustainable urban regeneration. Through a combination of theoretical insights and practical case studies, "Reinventing heritage" highlights the diverse ways in which adaptive reuse can revitalize cities and honor cultural heritage while creating innovative spaces serving contemporary demands.

In his spare time, Marshutz also wandered the streets, documenting the daily life of Korean civilians. "The forgotten home front: Roger Marshutz’s photographs of Pusan, South Korea, 1952–1954" offers both an official and unofficial look at U.S.-South Korean relations, as well as a portrait of a country in the midst of enormous political, economic, and cultural transformation.

In 1996-97, Harvard's graduate students studied China's Pearl River Delta (PRD), a cluster of five cities with a population of twelve million that will probably reach thirty-six million by the year 2020. The establishment in the PRD of Special Economic Zones - "laboratories for the contained unleashing of capitalism" - has hastened an unprecedented experiment in urbanization on an astonishingly large scale. "Great Leap Forward" contains essays that explore, in a theoretical and statistical context, the results of this rapid modernization, which has produced an entirely new urban substance.

'Landscape with(out) Locus' interprets landscape as an ever-changing social, economic, and ecological construct. Addressing questions of power, identity, and natural resources, the publication follows histories of surveillance and colonialism, considering photographic (and post-photographic) images as central to the process of interacting with the world.

In Europe, the period of great economic and demographic growth is largely over. The physical growth of our urban agglomerations has come to an end. The spatial assignment of the future European city will be fundamentally different. Building new space outside the city boundaries is no longer necessary. Instead, what exists should be made sustainable. The new spatial assignment involves maintaining, restructuring, densifying or diluting the existing city. This publication analyses this development and describes a toolbox that is able to turn the new assignment into a success.

Résumé:
In this book, Mike Davis explores the future of a radically unequal and explosively unstable urban world. From the sprawling barricadas of Lima to the garbage hills of Manila, urbanization has been disconnected from industrialization, and even from economic growth. Davis portrays a vast humanity warehoused in shantytowns and exiled from the formal world economy. He argues that the rise of this informal urban proletariat is a wholly unforeseen development, and asks whether the great slums, as a terrified Victorian middle class once imagined, are volcanoes waiting to erupt.
