This project series document the Biblioteca da Câmara Municipal de Viana do Castelo in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 11/00. The office assigned the dates 2000-2008 to this project. The project site is located between the Alameda 5 de Outubro and the Lima river. The library was part of the waterfront development plan, directed by Fernando Távora. The development plan included a multiuse pavilion designed by Eduardo Souto de Moura, two office buildings, and an auditorium designed by Tàvora. The architects, with the help of José Bernardo Tavora and Adalberto Dias chose together location. The orthogonal two-story library respects the recommendations of the Portuguese Institute of Book and Libraries (IPLB). This project was realized and won the National Contemporary Architecture Award. The firm identified this project as number 110. “Fabrications was an innovative exhibition on architecture conceived and produced jointly by MACBA, MoMA, the Wexner Center for the Arts and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The exhibition presented sixteen life-size architectural interventions, four at each participating center, each produced by a team of architects who explored tectonic issues in a broad sense. The four installations presented at Plaça dels Àngels – the square in front of the MACBA building – explored and modified the surfaces that defined this public space. Vicente Gualla (Barcelona) created an intervention on the façade opposite the Museum, which drew attention to the occupation and the population density that was absent from the buildings in the square. Abalos & Herreros (Madrid) acted upon the façade of the MACBA building itself, cladding and decorating its most monumental elements: the tower and the balcony. Riegler Riewe (Graz) worked with the whole of the square, inscribing a broken horizontal line along the perimeter of the public space. In 1911, he worked independently, and later shared a practice with his brother Bruno Taut and Franz Hoffman (who joined them after 1914). His first architectural projects consisted primarily of schools. After his military service from 1914 to 1918, Max Taut joined the Arbeisrat für Kunst and the Novembersgruppe. After the First World War, he undertook several architectural projects, both private and public commissions such as housing and office buildings (mainly in Berlin), and also worked on projects for exhibitions. Unable to pratice during the Nazi Regime and the Second World War, Max Taut return to his architectural practice after the war and taught as a professor of architecture at the Hochschule für bildende Kunst in Berlin from 1945 to 1954. Sub-series AP154.S1.1973.PR01.SS2 Addition from Pasanella + Klein Stolzman + Berg (2007) contains records donated by Pasanella + Klein Stolzman + Berg in 2007. The sub-series documents interior design and renovation projects by Pasanella + Klein or Pasanella + Klein Stolzman + Berg dating from approximately 1978 to 2007. Some of the projects in this subseries have been identified by Tom Stetz as being related to Article 26 of the 1980 lease agreement between the landlord Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America and the tenant Joseph E. Seagram and Sons. A copy of the lease agreement is present among the textual records of this subseries. Renovation projects documented in this sub-series include interior design projects for the 5th and 6th floors, proposed modifications for the "Picasso Alley" area, and unrealized schemes for an elevator and wheelchair ramp for the plaza. There are also some original drawings for furniture designs. The sub-series also inlcudes digital files containing font typefaces for the building's display alphabet. A substantial part of the subseries is composed of documents from the 1950 and 1960s that are related to the original design and construction of the Seagram Building. These documents include twelve rolls containing approximately 500 copies of working drawings from the period 1955-1963. The original design is further documented by a 1955 outline of specifications for work and materials.
