Résumé:
Jockum Nordström creates oddball, apparently naïve narratives that owe much to the twin influences of folk art and modernist absurdism. Each of his painted, drawn or collaged stories is both specific and open-ended, as though - not unlike Henry Darger’s paintings - they are part of a much grander and ongoing tale that unfolds over a prolonged period. His distinctive sensibility draws on a wide range of inspirations in music, poetry and architecture - particularly the Stockholm suburb where he grew up, which both his drawings and his sculptures reference on an ongoing basis.

Résumé:
The house that Frank Lloyd Wright designed for Frederick C. and Katherine G. Bogk in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1916 occupies a unique position in Wright’s career: it is the only fully realized house designed in the teens that demonstrates his fascination with Primitivism, the use of non-Western sources as an inspiration for modern design. This book traces Wright’s exploration alongside the stories of an immigrant family’s rise and Milwaukee’s emergence as a vibrant city. It also documents the interiors, relatively unchanged for over a century, that represent Wright’s approach to total design.

Résumé:
Bringing together a sequence of subtle and disquieting photographs with a dozen compact short stories, ''Pharmakon'' is a surprising new work from the singular mind of Teju Cole. The photographs were taken across the globe and extend the oblique point of view he developed in ''Fernweh'' (2020). Interspersed among the images are texts that emerge like intimate signals from our age of crisis, mining further the exquisite linguistic control that characterizes Cole’s novels ''Open City'' (2011) and ''Tremor'' (2023). The result is a work of strange beauty that startles and consoles in equal measure.

Résumé:
In "The Aquarium is a Listening Glass", nine short, non-linear stories—set amid scientific archives, underwater research stations, natural history museums, national aquaria and oceanic infrastructure—evoke the glass as a listening device to present singular relationships between humans and fish that would otherwise go unheard. In this paradigm shift, design plays a fundamental role in conceiving the object (and the book) as a sensory device to glimpse new forms of mediation, to generate alliances, and also to promote the potential for a thriving and vital world.
