AP144.S2.D105
Description:
File documents a competition entry for a landmark to be located in the city centre of Melbourne, Australia. Price's project for a multi-use structure combined the idea of a "city-farm" with public access routes for harvesting, marketing, and purchasing produce. "[F]our multi-floored hydroponic farms" covered with faceted triangulated space frames rise from an expansive open deck structure which covered most of the site. Artificial lights and additional water collection and supply was integrated within the triangulated space frames. Conceptual sketches in pen and coloured pencil show the initial design. A presentation panel which is composed of text and drawings pasted onto a base sheet indicates the existing site conditions in plan, the open deck platform grids, the triangulated space frames, various views of the proposed landmark design, and future design developments. Material in this file was produced in 1979. File contains conceptual drawings and presentation panels.

AP207.S1.1977.PR01
Description:
The project series documents the performance "Performance Fotofosforescente" carried out at the Palazzo Grassi, in Venice, for the International Festival "The Art of Performance" in 1977. The performance consisted of a phosphorescent figure descending the grand staircase of the main entrance to the courtyard of the Palazzo Grassi, crossing the atrium through the audience, and heading down the steps towards the Grand Canal to finally disappear into the water. The performer is holding in his hands a three-dimensional phosphorescent Escher cube, the only source of light while the courtyard is in almost total darkness. "The evocative setting, the music, the darkness and this moving light produced an effect of “working” of the space, somewhere between the real and the imaginary [...]." [1] The project series contains a draft and a more final storyboard of the performance, Pettena's handwritten notes, and photographs of the performance at the Palazzo Grassi. AP075.S1.1989.PR04
Description:
Project series documents Cornelia Hahn Oberlander's landscape project for Ottawa City Hall, located on Sussex Drive, on Green Island, surrounded by Ottawa and Rideau Rivers, in Ottawa, Ontario. Oberlander worked on this project in 1989-1994 with architect Moshe Safdie. The old City Hall, a heritage building, was retained, and the new landscape design had to include the old structures. Oberlander landscape concept was to create a park-like space used for strolling as well as public functions. She also designed a courtyard with water features, including a pool, trees and flowers. The project also included a play area for the day care centre of the City Hall. The project was completed in 1994. The project series comprises sketches, design development drawings, such as grading plans, landscape plans, sections, elevations and details for the play area, working drawings, including site grading plans, and presentation drawings. The project is also documented through concept notes by Oberlander, specifications, correspondence, including with architects, clients, and consultants, financial documents and photographs of the construction.
