Résumé:
Jean-Pascal Flavien's work involves the design and conception of houses that reconfigure domestic space to produce unorthodox living arrangements. A particular form of thinking gives rise to a physical form of dwelling, and the use of these structures furthers his artistic approach via experiments within the space as well as through written texts, films and other activities. Thus far, four of the Berlin-based artist s installations have been realized: Viewer (2007), Rio de Janeiro; No Drama House (2009), Berlin; Two Persons House (2010), São Paulo; and Breathing House (2012), Pougues-les-Eaux, France. This catalog, published on the occasion of Flavien's exhibition at the Centre d'art contemporain du Parc Saint-Léger and the Kunstverein Langenhagen, is an arrangement of these independent parts following the development of the artist's most recent houses.

Résumé:
Invited to exhibit on the Mauvoisin Dam in Switzerland, Camille Llobet created a photographic series capturing a glacial landscape in transition. Shot on and around the moraines of the Mer de Glace, the images reveal a layered world of rock, ice, and sediment - remnants of a largely vanished glacier. Through diptychs that often exclude the sky and horizon, Llobet invites viewers to re-experience the scale and materiality of this grey-toned terrain. The book also features an in-depth interview with Jean-Paul Felley, in which Llobet discusses her working process, collaboration with geomorphologists, and the choreography of mountain landscapes in flux. This is the 11th artist's publication in conjunction with the yearly summer exhibition in the area of the Mauvoisin Dam in Vallais, Switzerland, curated by Jean-Paul Felley. Design: Roger Willems.

Résumé:
Built in 1976 as an early exploration in weaving together the sun, wind, biology and architecture for the benefit of humanity, the Ark bio-shelter integrated ecological design features to provide autonomous life support for a family. Published to accompany the exhibition celebrating the Ark?s 40th anniversary, this publication examines the project?s role in inspiring change in ecological and architectural expectations and appetites. The three years in the life of the Ark forms the core for a set of explorations into early green architecture in Canada and elsewhere; the intermediate/alternative technology movement; collaborations between youth counterculture and official culture; the public and professional reception; and the Ark legacy in architecture, alternative technology, government policy and actions, and public imagination. Illustrated with original drawings, period photographs, and related ephemera.

A student of Carlo Scarpa, he inherited from him the artistic and artisanal attitude of the project, the taste for open forms and the sensitivity for an operational scale that extends from the material detail to the landscape. His work ranges from the design of objects and lamps where light becomes the protagonist, to urban housing projects, private and public buildings, exhibition installations and an important painting parenthesis.

Among his best-known projects is MoMA QNS, Maltzan’s reworking of a former factory into a temporary accommodation for the Museum of Modern Art, which opened in Queens, New York, in June 2002. Projects currently in design or under construction include several innovative residences in California, the Fresno Metropolitan Museum, and Kidspace Children’s Museum, Pasadena, which was selected for the 2002 Venice Biennale International Exhibition of Architecture. Résumé:
The Other Architect presents 23 case studies that emphasize the potential for architecture to identify the urgent issues of our time. These international and often multidisciplinary groups, with examples from the 1960s to today, invented and adopted new methods outside of traditional design practices in order to create architecture without building. The alternative approaches shown in the exhibition challenge the concept of individual authorship in favor of establishing collaborative networks or partnerships with permeable roles. Their work took on non-traditional forms such as bibliographies, surveys, databases, conferences, posters, questionnaires and manifestos. By avoiding the built form, these unexpected ways of practicing allow architecture to actively shape a cultural agenda. 416 pages and over 300 colour facsimiles of traces left in letters, books, drawings, photographs, budgets, videos, mission statements, meeting minutes, T-shirts, boats, and buses
