This publication presents the work of sixteen artists who address the social, psychological, political and aesthetic dimensions of surveillance systems. Writings on the artists and their works are accompanied by critical essays on the culture of surveillance, social sorting, data-aesthetics and our evolving understandings of and participation in surveillance regimes. Après ses projets pour Disney, Vitra ou Minneapolis, lancés entre 1987 et 1990, Frank Gehry, Pritzker 1989, allait devenir infiniment redevable envers la Fondation Guggenheim. En effet, à la suite de négociations avec la région basque et la capitale émiratie – la fondation n'assurant qu'un rôle d'opérateur de ses propres collections –, Thomas Krens lui confiera les musées de Bilbao (1991-1997) et d'Abou Dabi (2006-2017). Après ses projets pour Disney, Vitra ou Minneapolis, lancés entre 1987 et 1990, Frank Gehry, Pritzker 1989, allait devenir infiniment redevable envers la Fondation Guggenheim. En effet, à la suite de négociations avec la région basque et la capitale émiratie – la fondation n'assurant qu'un rôle d'opérateur de ses propres collections –, Thomas Krens lui confiera les musées de Bilbao (1991-1997) et d'Abou Dabi (2006-2017). Depuis, ce modèle de franchise a révolutionné les stratégies muséales et urbaines – notamment celles du Centre Pompidou-Metz ou des Louvre-Lens ou Abou Dabi. Mais les fondations Luma (2010-2018) ou Louis-Vuitton (2001-2014) s'appropriant elles aussi le « style Gehry » à Arles ou à Paris, que révèlent donc toutes ces mutations privatisées ?
