Résumé:
Whereas it is possible to buy handbooks and publications that describe the functions of specific CAD programs, what is lacking is a general survey of the basic principles of CAD. Many tips and tricks would be particularly helpful for CAD beginners, keeping them from making basic mistakes that require time-consuming corrections. This is the gap that the Basics student series intends to fill with Basics CAD, which provides a fundamental understanding of the functions, processes and structures that all programs share. Basics CAD targets first-year students in disciplines such as architecture, engineering, landscape design and interior architecture, as well as trainees in the fields of construction drawing and technical drawing who will work with CAD programs in their later professional environments.» Bert Bielefeld, Foreword

Résumé:
In the 19th century railroads and canals provided both structure and motor for city development. This role has been taken over today by the global flow of data and products, as the author argues. The author describes the current development and its impact on architecture, landscape architecture and urbanism. Flow of material and communication is the DNA of contemporary environments. This development has enormous and partially unfathomable implications for our city fabric. Logistics networks and their complex structure increasingly bear upon many urban spheres. Counter trends to the ubiquitous internet retail trade – to name one of the most palpable phenomena – are gaining momentum as well, exemplified by the criticism of labor conditions in e-commerce and the trend to buy regional products from local stores.

Résumé:
Bogdan Bogdanovic (1922–2010) was a Yugoslav architect, theorist, professor and a one-time mayor of Belgrade. His idiosyncratic memorials to the victims and heroes of World War II, scattered around the former Yugoslavia, continue to attract attention today, more than 25 years after the country’s collapse. The monuments, cemeteries, mausoleums, memorial parks, necropolises, cenotaphs and other sites of memory Bogdanovic designed between the early 1950s and late 1970s occupy a unique place in the history of modern architecture, redrawing the boundaries between architecture, landscape and sculpture in varied and unexpected ways. This book presents Bogdanovic’s built oeuvre through his own eyes, in a selection of nearly 50 color photographs of his memorials, which the architect took soon after the completion of each project.

Résumé:
Dobrovic in Dubrovnik traces the history of a project of avant-garde modern architecture constructed in the 1930s in the Mediterranean landscape of the south Dalmatian coast of the Adriatic Sea. Architects Krunoslav Ivaniin and Ljiljana Blagojevic contribute comprehensive historical, theoretical and phenomenological readings of a highly specific venture in modern architecture (though with the usual universal aspirations)--the quintessentially modern villas, gardens and hotels built in Dubrovnik 70 years ago by the Serbian architect and urban planner Nikola Dobrovic (1897-1967). Confined to an area of about ten square miles and in use for only about ten years, the buildings are presented in this volume through previously unpublished original design drawings, black-and-white photographs from the 1930s and contemporary color photographs by Wolfgang Thaler.

Résumé:
Published every year without exception since 1993, the Yearbook of AV Monographs documents, analyses, and disseminates contemporary Spanish architecture. The current edition collects 24 works completed in 2025, organised in six thematic blocks and selected according to criteria of architectural quality, technical rigour, constructive innovation, and urban relevance. Four refurbishments adapt historical buildings to the current safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency standards, optimizing their technical and environmental performance. Another four territorial interventions – a railway station, a port project, and two public parks – address the infrastructural complexity through connectivity strategies, landscape regeneration, and metropolitan coordination.

Really important artists situated their work in the master frame of art, well aware of the importance of the material they are using and conscious of questions about paradigms or paradigm shifts in art. This occurs in a special way in the work of Olafur Eliasson and is placed in full view of the observer by the exhibition at the Kunsthaus Bregenz. Eliasson uses nature and the architecture of the building as material : the result is an interplay in flux or a reversal of art and nature. In cooperation with Günter Vogt, landscape architect.

In the wake of a turbulent five-hundred-year history, Havana today is a shipwreck of splendour and decay; a place where the passing decades have created a haunting landscape, both beautiful and serene. They show us, for example, ideas for a solar kitchen restaurant; a flypaper robotic clock; a menstruation machine; a cloud-seeding truck; a phantom-limb sensation recorder; and devices for food foraging that use the tools of synthetic biology.

Résumé:
GEO- Earth- is a word that simultaneously signifies something vast and elemental. It refers to both the planet on which we live and the soil that sustains us. GEO is the physical and representational bedrock of landscape architecture- the foundation of many disciplines from which we draw our knowledge. Geography, Geology, and Geometry, in particular, are fundamental to our discipline’s intellectual core. And now, we seem ever more entangled in GEO as some scholars across the sciences and humanities argue that humans should be recognized as agents of change at geologic time scales.
