"How to Make a Japanese House" presents 21 lessons in how to design a single-family home from three decades of architectural practice. From the Western perspective, in which more space is better space, small interiors may once have seemed undesirable, but Japanese architects have long excelled at overcoming the limitations of building in densely populated areas and creating brilliant effects of spaciousness with minimal square footage.

Résumé:
Since the early eighties, many architects have used the term "narrative" to describe their work. To architects the enduring attraction of narrative is that it offers a way of engaging with the way a city feels and works. Rather than reducing architecture to mere style or an overt emphasis on technology, it foregrounds the experiential dimension of architecture. Narrative Architecture explores the potential for narrative as a way of interpreting buildings from ancient history through to the present, deals with architectural background, analysis and practice as well as its future development.

Résumé:
Focused on post-labor, psychopathology, and plasticity of human mind and body, this book introduces insight, critiques, and propositions in the area of “self-design,” ranging from design and architecture to science, media, history, philosophy, and contemporary art. The field of design has radically expanded. As a practice, design is no longer limited to the world of material objects, but rather extends from carefully crafted individual looks and online identities, to the surrounding galaxies of personal devices, new materials, interfaces, networks, systems, infrastructures, data, chemicals, organisms, and genetic codes.

Résumé:
Spirit photography, or the ability to photograph spiritual entities, was an integral part of the development of photography and is most identified with the late 19th century. Today, artists are returning to this practice in order to show that photography attests not only to the visible but to the invisible world. This publication, accompanied by the work of a wide range of Quebec artists - including Serge Clément, Sorel Cohen, Denis Farley, Marie-Jeanne Musiol, Richard-Max Tremblay and Éliane Excoffier - seeks to show that photography can still make ghosts appear before our very eyes.

Résumé:
This book is the first overall presentation of Silberkuppe. Since it’s founding in May 2008, Silberkuppe has become one of Berlin’s most outstanding independent spaces for contemporary art. This catalogue comes as a result of the exhibition “Under One Umbrella” (2010) in Bergen Kunsthall, a project that was the culmination of a series of institutional group exhibitions in which Silberkuppe extended their practice out from their own micro-space. It takes the form of a “photographic report” documenting all of Silberkuppe’s main exhibitions and events, as well as presenting several essays related to the projects.

Résumé:
It is only through committed confrontation in built and social contexts that locality-specific and therefore identity-creating buildings can be designed. The objective of this book - developed by internationally renowned architect Dietmar Eberle at the ETH Zurich is to document the complexity of the design process. With essays from various authors, this second edition explores the complexity of the individual components of design. In corresponding exercise sections a clearly defined and structured methodology for the design process is formulated - a methodology that can be used for teaching as well as in practice.
