Résumé:
From the outset, American artist Betty Woodman (born 1930) has used ceramics as her medium of expression and artistic research, and it has made her one of the most influential and original voices on the international art scene. Bridging the gap between art and craft, Woodman moves nimbly between the traditions of an age-old medium, taking inspiration from Minoan and Egyptian art, Greek and Etruscan sculpture, Tang Dynasty works, majolica and Sèvres porcelain, Italian Baroque architecture and the paintings of Bonnard, Picasso and Matisse, while also introducing innovations in both style and technique. This publication focuses on work made over the past ten years, while taking stock of Woodman's continued relevance to contemporary art and her importance among postwar artists.

Résumé:
In her first artist's book, Cambridge, MA-based artist Katarina Burin (born 1975) creates a fictitious Czechoslovakian architect named Andrejova-Molnar, described as a pioneering architect of modern postwar Europe, as part of her investigation of architectural history. The book presents a biographical narrative about the education and design work of Andrejova-Molnar, and positions her work in relation to mid-20th-century female architects Charlotte Perriand and Eileen Grey. Burin’s Andrejova-Molnar project, which won the prestigious James and Audrey Foster Prize at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston in 2013, gives voice to female designers while questioning notions of authorship and authenticity, the relationship between gender and the archive, and the historical tension between national identity and internationalist aspirations.

Résumé:
The artist (born in 1961 in Madrid, resident in Chicago) has been creating multiform works that deal with social and political borderline situations for over a decade. His work demonstrates how certain powers and systems, whether natural or created by human beings, affect the world we live in. This is a comprehensive documentation of the exhibition The Krefeld suite: installations in the two Mies Villas in Krefeld. Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle , multimedia artist and Mies van der Rohe specialist, has created a cinematographic installation especially for the Krefeld Mies Villa, where he shows the relationship between their architecture and the “architecture” of icebergs. The installations are built around the theme of time in the dynamic relationship between prehistoric, historic and contemporary time.

Résumé:
Published on the occasion of Nathalie Du Pasquier’s solo show at MACRO – Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome, this book navigates the space between an exhibition catalogue and the artist book with juxtapositions of photographs of Nathalie Du Pasquier’s works, installation views of the show at MACRO, and extracts from texts by various writers and figures fundamental to her practice. These come together to create an extension of the exhibition itself, in a form that channels the spirit of the show: the pages become exhibition spaces embracing associations and combinations allowing for a deeper understanding and exploration of Du Pasquier’s work, and her imagination at large. It is a glimpse into the possibilities offered by her oeuvre, which can be approached, interpreted, and experienced from countless perspectives.

Résumé:
Turrell is undoubtedly the most influential contemporary light artist. In Geometry of Light, an extraordinary body of work covering several decades is assessed. At the book's center is the series of works known as Sky Spaces, a signature Turrell conception in which the sky is made to seem "on top of" the room's ceiling, and which has become a mini-genre unto itself within light art. Academic, philosophical and art-historical essays explicate these perceptual spaces, whose evolution is closely allied to Turrell's development of the Roden Crater Project in the Arizona desert, where he began constructing an observatory in 1974. Also included is the latest installation, "Skyspace/Camera Obscura Space," which Turrell conceived for the Zentrum fur Internationale Lichtkunst in Unna, Germany.

Résumé:
Hans-Peter Feldmann (born 1941) is a virtuoso taxonomist of contemporary visual culture. Published for Feldmann’s major 2012 exhibition at the Serpentine Galllery in London (which travels to Vienna and Hamburg), Catalogue compiles well-known images alongside new and unseen works, including selections from the artist’s private photo albums and reproductions of early book works from the late 1960s on. Grids of seagulls and postcards share space with lighthearted photobooth snaps of people crossing their eyes and a variety of other visual gags. At once intimate and accessible, Catalogue includes a lengthy, playful interview with Hans Ulrich Obrist and Helena Tatay, in which Feldmann looks back over his career, discussing inspirational figures such as Marcel Broodthaers, Bruno Goller and Konrad Klapheck and his favorite books.

Résumé:
Paulina Olowska's work demonstrates an interest on Communist Poland's fascination with Western consumerism and celebrates the spirit and stylish improvisations of the "Applied Fantastic"—a term coined by Polish writer Leopold Tyrmand in 1954, to describe the vernacular re-creations of Western styles. In her paintings, collages, and knitted works, Olowska incorporates text and graphics from found illustrations or images that have a decidedly "behind the Iron Curtain" look, while paying tribute to American Pattern and Decoration art of the 1970s and its use of non-traditional contemporary art mediums such as tiles and textiles. This publication is the first monograph to offer an overview of her work. It includes an interview with Adam Szymczyk and an essay by Jan Verwoert.
