Is there a greener gender ? Studies show that women are more likely than men to support environmental causes through voting, activism, and consumer choices. What are the implications for the disign industry ? Does sustainable design have special appeal for women, and do they in turn offer something unique to the field ? In Women in Green : Voices of Sustainable Design, Kira Gould and Lance Hosey explore these questions through informal conversations with architects, designers, consultants, policymakers, educators, and students. What they find is that women may be changing how we all see our world and our work.

"William Morris: Pattern & design" begins with an introductory overview of Morris’s life and work. It explores how these iconic designs were created and printed in the late nineteenth century, and then shows the patterns, and many alternative colorways. The decade of each pattern is specified on each spread, and the vertical captions give as much uninterrupted space to the patterns as possible. This generously illustrated book showcases iconic designs including the famous Trellis, St. James's, and StrawberryThief, alongside lesser known, but equally fascinating patterns by Morris and Morris & Co. designers such as May Morris, Kate Faulkner, and John Henry Dearle.

Résumé:
The relationship between landscape and architecture became strained in the early Modern Movement when the two parted ways in an effort to idealize place making. The aim of this volume of essays is to create a platform where these two disciplines may be reunited in a critical dialogue. The book originates from a symposium of the title and lecture series organized by the School of Architecture at Arizona State University during 1998-1999. It includes over 20 essays by academics and professionals whose work addresses the need to reconsider these two disciplines as complementary pieces of the same puzzle.

Résumé:
In compelling, often stunning black-and-white photographs, The Weather and a Place to Live portrays the manmade landscape of the western United States. Here we come face to face with the surreal intersection of the American appetite for suburban development and the resistant, rolling, arid country of the desert West. Steven B. Smith’s extraordinary photographs take us into the contemporary reality of sprawling suburbs reconfiguring what was once vast, unpopulated territory. With arresting concision and an unblinking eye, Smith shows how a new frontier is being won, and suggests too how it may be lost in its very emergence.

A follow up to Ward Long's first monograph Summer Sublet (2020), "Standstil"l offers familiar interiors and neighborhood sights vibrating with a golden state glow. Friends have children, warm light pools on a park fence, and fireworks explode over an empty parking lot. Time cycles onward, yet these few small moments are caught in a spell of suspended grace. The carefully constructed sequence offers a kind of sunny purgatory, anticipating what may come. What’s on the other side?

Résumé:
''The Weltanschauung as an Ersatz Gestalt'' was Turnovský’s thesis, written in 1978 as a requirement to complete his studies at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. For more than thirty years, it has remained unpublished—until now. This facsimile publication sheds new light on the development of his theoretical trajectory by revealing Turnovský’s interest in the philosophy of “open systems” as proposed by the Italian novelist and semiotician Umberto Eco. Turnovský applies the logic of open systems to the architectural design process, which allows for a personalized perception that may differ from both the collective experience and the creator’s artistic vision.
