Résumé:
Based on newly uncovered archival information and a close reading of numerous NFB films, Projecting Canada explores the NFB's involvement with British Empire communication theory and American social science. Using a critical cultural policy studies framework, Druick develops the concept of "government realism" to describe films featuring ordinary people as representative of segments of the population. She demonstrates the close connection between NFB production policies and shifting techniques developed in relation to the evolution of social science from the 1940s to the present and argues that government policy has been the overriding factor in determining the ideology of NFB films. Projecting Canada offers a compelling new perspective on both the development of the documentary form and the role of cultural policy in creating essential spaces for aesthetic production.

Elizabeth A. Povinelli has mapped the creation and dismantling of worlds formed by the twinning of historical progress and settler colonialism—as a unity in events and a contradiction in ideology. Résumé:
Elizabeth A. Povinelli has mapped the creation and dismantling of worlds formed by the twinning of historical progress and settler colonialism—as a unity in events and a contradiction in ideology. Even if corporations and nation-states now collude in the same Ponzi schemes, they still continue to transform space and time. At the receiving end of the ideological exhaust pipe, where transformation is inherited as deformation, the diagram flips to place brutality and existential exhaustion at the beginning. But the beginning of what? How about a new beginning, starting with modes of survival and persistence against, and within, a world built from deferred promises? This is a world that many in the imperial hemisphere are only starting to realize they’ve known for longer than they want to admit.

Résumé:
Almost 40 years ago, Dario Paccino published a book with an intriguing title, L'imbroglio ecologico (Einaudi 1972)- The ecology charade. In it, he explored different deviations leading to the cynical exploitation of environmental ideology. What are the real advantages of sustainable development, and who exactly benefits from them? The New Economy or the People? Transnational corporations or local culture? These questions remain unanswered. As the double meaning in its title suggest, this special Green Issue of Domus not only covers green design, but also the unsettled matter of ecology. The architecture and design experiences presented here draw on at lest 30 years of sustainability culture, to steel our courage and determination before the complex task of designing for a Planet that is beset by a serious environmental emergency.

Résumé:
"The decay of lying" includes two of Wilde’s most comprehensive–and witty–explorations of his aesthetic philosophy: "The decay of lying" and "The critic as artist." In this text, Wilde uses his decadent ideology in an attempt to reverse and therefore reject his audiences' 'normal' conceptualizations of nature, art and morality. Wilde's views of life and art are illustrated through the use of Platonic dialogue where the character Vivian takes on the persona of Wilde. Wilde's goal is to subvert the norm by reversing its values. Wilde suggests to us that society is wrong, not him. Calling on diverse examples - from Ancient Greek sculpture to contemporary paintings - Oscar Wilde's brilliant essay creates a witty, paradoxical world in which the only Art worth loving is that built on complete untruths.
