Lost and Found took over a period of six months between December 21st 2005 at 6:35pm, and June 21 2006 at 12:26pm when these photographs were taken. These dates are both the solstices for December 2005 and June 2006. During this frame of time lost gloves were collected from the streets of Montreal. These gloves were then given back to the streets on the Summer Solstice Ceremony the 21st of June of 2006. The way they were given back was by freezing them inside an ice cube that was to be left to melt during the day. This action is accompanied by the following text: Prelude to the Summer Solstice Ceremony Montreal, June 21st, 2006, 12:26pm Wednesday, December 21st, 2005, 6:35pm Presence: The last instance of heat when the glove embraced the hand. Absence: The first instance of cold when the glove is lost (released from the hand). Monday, March 20th, 2006, 6:26pm Presence: The first instance of the glove found in the street. Absence: The last instance of the lost glove, which is the awareness of it. Wednesday, June 21st, 2006, 12:26pm Presence: The extension of the awareness of it, which is the beginning of the ice piece in the summer solstice ceremony. Absence: The piece melts and falls back into entropy Lost and found, lost and found, lost and found.
