An integrated skate and public park along Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River Park designed with skateboarders for multiple uses: pedestrians, cyclists, and skateboarders will share the park. The project was proposed by the city of Philadelphia as an alternative to a 2003 petition to legalize skateboarding on another plaza, LOVE Park, which has a reputation as one of the best skateboarding sites in the United States. The project adopted the slogan “From LOVE comes PAINE” and proposed changing the name of the proposed park from Schuylkill to Paine, illustrating their conviction that it should take shape as a shared resource.
