Map

Surveillance Camera Players highlight the invasive presence of publicly and privately owned surveillance cameras in cities. They issue maps of camera locations and conduct public tours, acquainting the watched with the watchers and staging plays such as George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four and Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot for the cameras. In some countries, the security tapes of these performances can be requested under public information law and presented again. The Surveillance Camera Players originated in New York City in November 1996. They claim no copyright to their work, and encourage other groups to make use of the Surveillance Camera Players name.
