Scope and Content

The photograph, taken in 1954, depicts a detail of the Senneville Barn Dome, also known as The Barn Dome, while under construction. It shows an interior view of the geodesic wood structure including one of the triangles covered by a fibrous membrane of glass that enveloped the original structure, which today has been replaced with metal sheets. A man in the photograph, who is working on the assembling the structure, is probably the owner of the land, John Hackney, who commissioned the architect Jeffrey Lindsay to build the dome to serve as a barn.

The photograph is accompanied by a documentary file which contains photocopies of documents taken from the Senneville archives (Plot Plan, Application for Permit to Build, Memorendum) and two recent photographs of the building (Robert Duchesnay, photographer, April 2004).
