CCA Director and Chief Curator Giovanna Borasi co-curates a conference examining the role of archives in contemporary culture, organized by the Fondazione Arnaldo e Alberto Mondadori (FAAM) as a part of the BookCity Milano festival. With Giacomo Papi (director of editorial content of the Mondadori Foundation) and Mirko Zardini (architect, curator, and former Director of CCA), Borasi brings together architects, scholars, archivists, curators, artists, publishers, and philosophers for a series of talks looking at archives through three interpretive frameworks: as a physical repository (space); as a web of knowledge (network); and as a locus of conservational thinking (environment).
Participants include Aware Politecnico, Cristina Baldacci, Paolo Besana, Carlo Birozzi, Stefano Boeri, Maria Canella, Gus Casely Hayford, Emily Changur, Luca Formenton, Gabriella Giannacchi, Giovanni Hanninen, Pierluigi Ledda, Armin Linke, Winy Mass, Ilaria Parini, Jeffrey Schnapp, Antonio Somaini, and Eira Tansey. Borasi will also deliver a presentation about the CCA’s recent work in collaboration with researchers in Africa, such as our Find and Tell Elsewhere program, through which vulnerable archives of historically significant practices in Sudan, Nigeria, and beyond are being digitized and disseminated.
