How does architecture respond to political intent? What does it enable—or resist?
Produced and curated in collaboration with M+, Hong Kong, How Modern reframes architectural histories of modernism in the first decades of the People’s Republic of China. The exhibition examines how architectural practice navigated rapidly shifting ideological and socioeconomic pressures through the perspectives and experiences of architects, institutions, and residents.
Please join us on 2 December at 6pm for a private guided tour for the Friends of the CCA of How Modern: Biographies of Architecture in China 1949-1979, opening in our Main Galleries from 20 November. This special event offers an opportunity to explore the exhibition with members of the curatorial team and to delve more deeply into the ideas and research that shaped it.
Snacks and drinks will be served. The galleries open at 5:30pm, so you may visit them before and after the tour.
This event is part of a series of activities offered exclusively to Friends of the CCA as one of the benefits for members of this program. To reserve your spot, please write to rsvp@cca.qc.ca.
