To Build Law: Screening of Where We Grow Older and With an Acre at the Architektur.Film.Sommer 2026

CCA elsewhere, In English, Museumsplatz 1 im MQ 1070 Wien, 19 August 2026, 8pm to 10pm

The fourteenth edition of the international architecture film festival in Berlin presents documentaries, short films. and experimental films, inviting film lovers and architecture enthusiasts to linger, watch, and engage in conversation under the open sky. The documentaries produced by CCA, Where We Grow Older and With an Acre, are presented in a program called Spaces for the Common Good.

The documentary Where We Grow Older (CCA, 2023, 30 min) looks at how the growing aging population is reshaping architectural and social constructs and questions the role of urban design and politics in facing these challenges. The film investigates two models of how care and housing can be reconceived in light of prolonged lives: public housing as part of municipal policies and infrastructure—where the city is the caretaker, and new structures that offer care not only to the elderly but also to their caretakers in single buildings managed by private entities —where the building becomes the city.

With an Acre follows architect Carla Juaçaba as she develops a museum and community space in solidarity with Flor de Café, a collective of smallholder farmers in Minas Gerais. Inspired by the temporality of Indigenous collective structures and the highway billboards that mark the extended rural landscape in the region, Juaçaba proposes a landmark on an elevated plantation overlooking the town of Nepomuceno. Light and tactical construction will provide a space for sharing knowledge, offering a symbolic stage of resistance while leaving a minimal trace on the earth. The pavilions will frame views of the region, but more importantly will set a vision for the future of the territory.
