On the occasion of Everlasting by Amanda Lickers at the CCA, and Carrie Allison: askōhtēskanohwē by Carrie Allison at the McCord Stewart Museum, the two institutions are offering a guided walking tour connecting their respective spaces.

Bringing together artists Carrie Allison (Nêhiýaw/Métis/mixed European descent) and Iako’tsi:rareh Amanda Lickers (Haudenosaunee), this encounter explores the resonances between their practices, both of which are grounded in living relationships with land, memory, and knowledge passed down through generations. While their work draws on distinct artistic languages, both artists consider the material and intangible traces that endure over time, while offering perspectives on the continuity of Indigenous presence today.

The activity begins at 10am at the McCord Stewart Museum with a guided tour of askōhtēskanohwē, before continuing on foot to the CCA, where participants will discover Everlasting and the accompanying installation in Shaughnessy House. Along the way, the artists will engage in a dialogue about their respective practices, exploring themes including intergenerational transmission, relationships to land, materiality, and resurgence.

Conceived as a conversation in motion, this guided walk brings together two artistic projects that, in their own ways, resist the ruptures imposed by colonial narratives and reaffirm the strength of the connections between communities, land, and cultural practices.

Participants are invited to bring their lunch and continue the conversation during an informal discussion following the activity.

The activity costs CAD 5 and is free for members of Indigenous communities, as well as for Museum members with an Exclusive Access membership and Friends of the CCA.
