This publication examines the formation and evolution of the CCA through a collection of oral histories conducted since the early 2000s with key figures in the history of the institution—including directors, curators, board members, and archive donors. Founded at a moment when architecture museums emerged in different countries in response to growing concerns regarding heritage preservation, the CCA developed a distinct model grounded in a combination of archiving, researching, and curating with a view to building public awareness on the role of architecture in society.

By providing insights into the definition of the CCA’s programming over the years, from an early focus on collecting and safeguarding architectural records for research purposes to recent exhibitions and publications that address pressing questions affecting contemporary society through the lens of architecture, the book illustrates the contribution of cultural institutions to public discourse.
