Archaeology of the Digital: Complexity and Convention

Exhibition, Yale School of Architecture, New Haven, 12 January 2017 to 7 May 2017

The Yale School of Architecture presents this exhibition, the third phase of the CCA’s research program Archaeology of the Digital. Through the lens of five curatorial themes (high-fidelity 3D, structure and cladding, data, photorealism, and topography and topology), fifteen projects are dissected and reassembled to provide a reading of innovative design strategies from the recent past that have now become convention. Rather than presenting individual projects that follow singular visions of the digital, this exhibition shows commonalities, hybridizations, and cross-pollinations of the digital medium and methods.
