inscribed - by the draughtsman, in pen and black ink, b.: "As the present sunk fence is to be filled up, there probably may be many vacant spots on the verges of the walk X / which latter is / to be abolished / in which one or more additional rows of trees / may be introduced so as to amplify the groups already indicated / for the new shrubbery, and for such purposes plants should be of / the same character as the principals named in the references - / Whatever unoccupied spaces present themselves in the old ground, / they may be treated as above, provided there is no chance of overcrowding. / Indications of Yellow lines - / Should Mr. Hughes's suggested alteration of the Abergele Approach be / executed south of the Elm W. the stable Approach must be a prolongation, / in which case the Walk Y must be altered to Z to afford a sufficient space / for a belt of Evergreens - "; b.: with a plant list keyed numerically to the plan; throughout: with labels of types of trees, buildings, and names of roads; in pen and red ink, throughout: with labels of trees, letters at interces of a grid at the back of the house; and in graphite, u.l.: with various notes
