- Contemporary binding consists of green leather-covered boards and a black leather spine, with gold gilt inscriptions. Endleaves and all pages of the book are of light yellowish brown paper. The book contains a frontispiece, title page, table of contents, list of illustrations, introduction, six chapters, photographic explanations, an index, a map of Delhi and 29 photographs, all of which are unbound from the cover. While textual pages of the book and the map still accompany the cover, the photographs, along with their secondary supports, have been individually mounted on CCA mounts, except for photographs PH1980:0204:004:001 - PH1980:0204:004:004 which are all mounted on the same secondary support and panorama PH1980:0204:013:001-002 which is mounted on two secondary supports. A plan of the Quwwat al-Islam Mosque Complex, which originally accompanied the publication, is unaccounted for (for an identical copy see book PH1983:0094:001-026, between pages 24 and 25). Graphite and pen and black ink notes, written by an unknown hand, are found throughout the chapters.
