Physical characteristics and technical requirements:

- Contemporary binding consists of dark brown, embossed, leather cover and spine with gold gilt inscriptions and gold gilding on the page edges. Pieces of paper with French inscriptions accompany many of the photographs. Endleaves are colourful marbled paper. The album comprises 107 photographs mounted on 107 light whitish brown cardboard pages and 4 blank light whitish brown cardboard pages.

imprinted and dated - in typescript and gold gilt, on the spine, u.c. to l.c.: with title and / "1877" imprinted and dated - in typescript and gold gilt, on the spine, u.c.: with title and / "1877" stamped - blind embossed, on the first (blank) page of the album, l.l.: "BRISTOL / L.M" [with emblem; within an oval; sideways]
