- The portfolio consists of a box made of gray cloth-covered boards with a gold gilt inscription. The interior of the box is lined with white paper. The photographs were printed on Ektacolor RC paper. The portfolio pages are of light yellowish white German Etching Paper and the mats are of white cardboard. The portfolio is comprised of a title page, text explaining production procedures, an introductory quote taken from Witter Bynner's 'The Jade Mountain', a table of contents, publication information and 12 photographs.
