ca. 1630-1640
Pen and brown ink with wash over traces of black chalk underdrawing
sheet: 13.0 x 18.6 cm

- This drawing was probably formerly laid down on a secondary support as were many of the drawings in the group DR1981:0017:001 R/V - DR1981:0017:079 R/V. Iron gall ink has eaten into the paper support, causing embrittlement and cracking throughout. There is a fragment of what is probably an offset image of a drawing of an entablature at the l.r.
inscribed and dated - by the draughtsman, in pen and brown ink, l.l. to l.r.: "Ponti Antichi che io ho osservati in Roma, degni da imitaze da ciasche dun / Moderno nella parte dell'appertura A quale seme alla belezza all leg- / gierezza, et allo sfogo dell'Acqua che e di grandiss.ma consequenza / 1635" numbered - by a contemporary hand, in pen and brown ink, l.r.: "[13]"
