Physical characteristics and technical requirements:

- Contemporary binding consists of brown leather covers and spine with impressed gilt lettering. The covers and pages are bound with two metal screws and the inside covers are covered with brown cloth. The album comprises 2 folded "Cirkut camera" panoramic views backed with white cloth tape and bound, then one bound white wove imprinted page providing a description of the Energite Explosives Company and its manufacturing activities, and then 80 photographs mounted on bound black construction paper pages. The 80 photographs are grouped in 6 sections, each section preceded by a black construction paper title page with impressed gilt lettering: "DIRECTORS", "GENERAL", "CAP MANUFACTURE", "LOADING OF PRIMERS", "CORDITE", and "GENERAL ASSEMBLY OPERATIONS". The "DIRECTORS" title page includes an inscription imprinted in gold ink, at lower right: "MATHER & McDONALD / PHOTOGRAPHERS / HAMILTON".

stamped and imprinted - impressed, in gilt, on the cover, c.: "THE ENERGITE EXPLOSIVES COMPANY LIMITED / MONTREAL"; and l.l.: "SHELL LOADING PLANT / RENFREW, ONT." labelled, imprinted, numbered and stamped - on a green paper label affixed to the inside back cover, with white letterpress, l.l.: a patent label with "THE HEINN COMPANY / MILWAUKEE WISCONSIN" [label torn]
