- Contemporary binding consists of blue paper covers with black ink lettering on white paper labels. The covers and pages are bound at the right edge with a white cord, which has become detached. The book comprises 73 albumen silver prints mounted on 9 pinkish white wove paper pages, two plan views of Edo Castle printed in black ink on white paper labels that are attached to 2 pinkish white wove paper pages, and text in Japanese characters inscribed in black ink on the yellowish white wove title page, and text in Japanese characters printed in black ink on 6 yellowish white wove pages. The title page includes a chop in red ink.
