Biography and family history of Nicholas Austin (1736-1821), a Quaker who was probably a son of Benjamin Austin and Sarah Pinkham of Dover, New Hampshire. Nicholas married Phebe Chesley in 1768, and after several moves in New Hampshire, began petitioning in the 1790s for land in Quebec province in Canada. Eventually he (and other Quakers) were granted land in Bolton Township, Richelieu County, Quebec. Descendants and relatives lived in Quebec and elsewhere.
