Stillman, Damie.
The decorative work of Robert Adam / Damie Stillman.
London : Academy Editions ; New York : St. Martin's Press, 1973.
viii, 119 pages, 85 unnumbered leaves of plates : illustrations ; 26 cm
Attention is focused here on the general interior decorative treatment, the walls, chimney-pieces, ceilings, floors, and decorative accessories. Though mentioned peripherally, exteriors and plans are beyond the scope of this study; and furniture, with the exception of such large pieces as organs, wall cabinets, and bookcases, has similarly been excluded. Within these limits, however, I have tried to trace the development of Adam's decorative style, its sources, and the role of the multitude of collaborators in the creation and execution of that style.--pg. vii.
