Summary:

"The author is indebted to the directors of the company and particularly to the chief enginer, Mr. Adam Hunter, M.INST.C.E., for providing facilities and resources which have enabled him to compile this reference book. Able technical assistance was given voluntarilty by several members of the staff, notably, Mr. J. M. Baxter, for foreign translations, Mr. C. E. Reynolds, B.Sc., and Mr. L. R. J. Cutbush, B.Sc., as well as other members of the firm's reinforced concrete department, including Miss Jean Jaap, who prepared the whole of the diagrams and tables, and Mr. T. Johnston, B.Sc., who assisted in the final reviewing and checking of proofs. It should also be mentioned that nearly all the structures illustrated were executed by Sir Wm. Arrol and Co., Ltd., under the management of Mr. T. B. Shore, who was for ten years the director in charge of this class of construction." -- Preface
