Charles Woodward was born in 1852 in Wentworth County, Ontario. His parents were John William Wentworth and May Culham. He married Elizabeth Anderson in 1873. They had nine children. They moved to Vancouver, British Columbia in 1892. Charles established what became the department store chain, Woodwards. He died in 1937. His family has continued the business for four generations.
