"The CTP was intended as a reference tool, providing indices, concordances, bibliography and up-dated plans for scholars studying Pompeii. The project was begun in 1958 at the urging of Matteo Della Corte, Tatiana Warscher and Axel Boëthius, and work continued into the 1990s. The earlier material in the date range of the series consists primarily of reproductions of eighteenth- and nineteenth century materials made for research purposes. Although published under Vander Poel's name, the series was actually created by the Research in Campanian Archaeology group (RICA), which consisted of Vander Poel and a staff of researchers, especially Laurentino García y García and Armando La Porta. As with any publication with such a long history, the CTP went through many different configurations, with varying titles and volume numbers, over the years of planning. In the end, five volumes, II, III, IIIA, IV and V, were published. ... Five more volumes, I, IIIB, IIIC, IIID and IVA, were left in various states of preparation and there is further material not clearly given a placement in the numbering system."--Finding aid to Halsted B.
