Summary:

"The purpose of this bibliography is twofold. Firstly, it provides an annotated bibliography of the major books and articles which discuss the concept of literary Modernism, accounts for its origins, describe its literary context and techniques, analyse its influence on fiction, poetry and drama, assess its importance, examine its philosophical, political and social ideas, and consider its relationship with the other arts. Secondly, it provides separate bibliographies of the major books and articles on the life, works, and social, political and critical ideas of W. B. Yeats, Wyndham Lewis, D. H. Lawrence, and T. S. Eliot. My principal aim has been to describe briefly the contents of each book and article listed, and, where relevant, to indicate its place within a particular critical debate."--from the Advice to the Reader, page [xi].
