Der deutsche Architekt Rudolf Schwarz (1897-1961) zählt zu den großen Meistern des Kirchenbaus im 20. Jahrhundert. Inspiriert von der katholischen Jugendbewegung, hat er seit 1924 über vierzig Sakralbauten entworfen. Sein Werk umfasst sowohl zahlreiche Neubauten als auch Umbauten und Renovierungen. Daneben ist er als Autor grundlegender Texte zum Kirchenbau hervorgetreten.
