Summary:

Im Laufe der Renaissance etabliert sich das Weihwasserbecken im italienischen Sakralraum und gehört fortan zu den unverzichtbaren Ausstattungsgegenständen. Trotzdem ist es bislang kaum untersucht worden. Der vorliegende Band ist dieser zwischen Skulptur, Bauplastik und Ausstattungskunst zu verortenden Gattung gewidmet und untersucht diese hier erstmals unter Berücksichtigung interdisziplinärer Fragestellungen. Zentral ist dabei die Relevanz des Weihwasserbeckens für die Erforschung von Sakralraumausstattungen, Kulturtransfers, Memorial- und Repräsentationskonzepten sowie neuzeitlicher religiöser Praxis vor und nach dem Tridentinum.
