Summary:

Located in the center of Pays des Étangs, the territory of Réchicourt-le-Château retains a heritage linked as much to its history as to its surrounding nature. Here nature and culture mingle. The landscape is transformed with the creation of ponds in the Middle Ages, then in the 19th century with the development of the Marne-au-Rhin canal. This territory with a strong rural character, and a building shaped by the many conflicts that have succeeded each other since the Thirty Years' War, has had two remarkable sites: the railway city of Nouvel-Avricourt, a consequence of the Annexation after 1870 and the city of Bata shoe linked to the arrival in the 1930s of the Czech industrialist Thomas Bata. This Heritage Image is the result of a study of the General Inventory combining field study with the resources of different public and private archival holdings. It deals with the architectural and furniture heritage as well as the natural heritage.
