"An expansion of the temporality of architecture, different from the built work-the space in which we can walk-includes the representation of architecture, the exhibition and archiving of architecture, and its dissemination. To propose an expanded notion of time within and surrounding architecture broadens the context within which architecture exists. This expansion includes the time of making, the time of inhabiting and the time of recollecting and repositioning. These three times structure the book, with an embossed image for each. The time of making is identified by the final documentation plan (1972-74) on the site in Connecticut; the time of inhabiting by a photograph of the built interior of the house (2007); and the time of recollecting and repositioning by an image of the iconic and highly exhibited model (during both its unbuilt and built phases) of the house (1981). These embossed images are superimposed as one reads through the book, as though accumulating with residue. The text component is blind letterpress printed, using a similar superimposition or additive method. The text therefore has a tactility: its presence and the number of times it has been through the printer within the page can be felt'' --Marian Macken, 'Passage: The temporality of an artifact' http://auckland.academia.edu/MarianMacken.
