This work corresponds to the section on architecture of the 1st volume (Première livraison) of 'Recueil de planches sur les sciences, les arts liberaux, et les arts méchaniques, avec leur explication' (Paris : Briasson [and others], 1762), with the exception of plate XIV that is not signed “Le Canu fecit”. The corresponding text (19 pages) is wanting. The Recueil was issued over the course of eleven years as an accompanying series of illustrations to Diderot and d'Alembert's Encyclopédie, which began to appear in 1751.
