From 347 submissions for the fifth Zumtobel Group Award an international expert jury has nominated 15 projects and three winners in the categories. For the first time, once again curated by Aedes, the 2017 award also included a special recognition for Young Professionals. Projects from all three categories with project authors under 40 years of age qualified for this special award. The Zumtobel Group Award honours contemporary realised or conceptual works of exceptional innovative content, design, technology and construction with a significant contribution to greater humanity and sustainability in the built environment. The award is assigned in three categories. The curators and jury members stressed the urgent need for individual responsibility in architecture today and welcomed the holistic and integrated approaches by the majority of the submitted projects.
