Summary:

The Community Development Center "Los Chocolates" started construction in 2014. The chosen property was a deserted bus terminal in a low-income district of Cuernavaca, painted chocolate-colored, hence its name. The architectural project was assigned to TALLER Mauricio Rocha + Gabriela Carrillo who had to create a place where the neighbors could play soccer, learn photography, consult books and digital materials, dance or where the different orchestras rehearse. The collective program CDC Los Chocolates was developed together with the neighbors and part of the project included painting the local houses and changing the public lighting. The book documents the construction of the center and the collective experiences that allowed neighbors and users to share their own cultural and identity practices as a community
